Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

Summer has come to a close. Some people can tell by the onslaught of football season and back to school hullabaloo. Me, I can feel Fall in the air. Yep, I am one of those geriatrics that can feel it in their bones. Time to pull out the warm sweaters and retire that itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini that never made it out of the drawer (Maybe it will fit next year- HA! I've been saying that since '96). Before I start to fantasize about jumping in piles of leaves, Halloween costumes, and hot chocolate, I must say good bye to summer.

What a few months! We had 1 graduation (R got his MBA- woohoo!), 1 family wedding, 3 new baby cousins (1 set of twins- yikes!), 3 family members move, the passing of our beloved Cleopatra (family dog), and our first camping trip with our girls (when they say don't pee in the wind and pitch your tent on a hill, listen!). The girls, Jack & I hit the road and spent part of the summer on the Lake in Montana. We gave R a road map and invited him to visit. Afterall, someone had to be responsible (and water the plants). Huckleberries, waterskiing, trips to Yellowstone National Park, red cowgirl boots, extended family and bats kept us quite busy. I even started running. If you are ever thinking of taking up running, I suggest you start in grizzly bear country. It's quite motivating. Other highlights were nightly trips to the snoshack, painted toe nails, killer croquet games in the front yard, swimming lessons with G-bean's cute teacher (waterskills for the kids, man candy for the moms), family bike rides, fireworks, inflatable water slides, campfires in the canyon with smores, afternoons at the pool with friends, and so much more. It was a good season. Without even knowing it, we created an end of summer ritual. R ran over G-bean's flip flops with the lawn mower...thus putting an end to the mower and summer apparel. So with that, goodbye Summer, bring on the Fall!

I love that Rocky ran over Grace's flip flop. Did it shred it completely? Was Grace sad? I am looking forward to a great autumn of baking. I would love it if you ran more. We could do a 5k!!! Or even better, Spudman! I am going to be on the computer firt thing new year's day! You would love it, I have heard wonderful things about that race. I really think we all should have road bikes and form our own team, it would be a blast!

okay you obviously had much more eventful summer than I did! I guess if I took the time to think about (or blog about it) I could come up with some fun memories! What a beautiful picture of your family at the wedding! I am LOVING Grace's hair--stylin'!!! You look beautiful too!

p.s. i have a pumpkin candle burning today just to tease myself!

So many great things. I think we hit our snowshack like twice (pathetic!) and there's so much fun to be had in summer. And it's really over :(.

I just read Brooke's comment, I agree, on the bike team (assuming she means to include some recreational/tour riders in there like myself!).

I will not be becoming a road biker. Unless you have a new set of lungs, legs, and butt for me. The lungs so I can finally breath, the legs so I can actually bike and the butt so I can wear the ridiculous shorts. I mean really there isn't enough money in the world to get me to put those bad boys on! I am sad summer is gone. I fear being locked up in my house for the next 7 months.

I am with you on the bike team... that would be awesome... how about the biker babes...he he! And I am so sad to say- that I won't be coming this Thursday to Book Club-- it is our Stake Temple Night- and Josh is wanting to go- so I have to take advantage- because this is a rare occurrence... and we haven't gone for awhile and need the blessings... Discuss the bike thing and let me know... Come on Tausha--- it is so much fun...

I think that Betty Crocker would be perfect! The season is slowing down, but we can ride a little in the winter. We can get all organized over the winter. Tausha, okay, the first step is to get a bike. Start out slow and your lungs and legs will get stronger. Before you know it you will love it and your butt will look AWESOME!!!!!
